THE GOVERNMENT DELEGATE FOR MURCIA ANNOUNCES AN INCREASE IN ROADSIDE CONTROLS TO PREVENT TRIPS DURING THE WEEKEND

Remember the obligation to stay at home and that unjustified travel will be penalized

José Vélez has announced an increase in roadside controls to avoid trips during the weekend to second homes and tourist areas and has recalled the obligation to stay at home, except for duly justified causes.

The Government Delegate has insisted that complying with the confinement regulations is essential to control the number of COVID-19 infections and definitively reverse the spread. "The duty to control and fine non-compliance with the laws of the State of Emergency is the authorities, but getting out of this situation is everyone's business, so staying at home is not just an obligation, it is an exemplary exercise of responsibility" Vélez indicated, who has instructed the State Security Forces and Bodies and Local Police to intensify controls at the entrances and exits of all the populations of the Region.

Up to Wednesday, April 1st, forty people have been arrested and more than 9,000 fines have been issued in the Region of Murcia in line with the laws of the State of Emergency.

Guardia Civil controls

Last weekend, the Traffic Division of the Guardia Civil carried out more than 7,000 controls, with more than 128,000 vehicles intercepted, and filed 3,700 fines throughout Spain.

Since the declaration of the state of emergency, the behaviour of the majority of citizens in the face of these mobility restrictions has been correct and responsible, as reflected in the daily traffic flow numbers, where a decrease of 83% of the light vehicle traffic on business days, reaching 92% last weekend.
