The Municipal Plenum of the Town Hall of Mazarrón approved yesterday a reduction of the Property Tax and of the Plusvalía Tax thanks to the favorable votes of the Government Team (PSOE, UIDM, IU y PaReMa). The proposal was defended by the councillor for Tax Department (Hacienda ) of the Town Hall of Mazarrón, Andrés Valera, who detailed the changes that will produce in the municipal tax ordinances to “carry out a reduction of taxes that will affect to all the neighbours of  Mazarrón from next year”.

Specifically, and after the catastral review of the value of the properties in the town requested by the Municipal Plenum, this value will decrease around 27%. As highlighted the councillor for Hacienda, “this will mean a reduction of the 11% in the IBI bill from next year but also, those that pay by direct debit or pay already  by direct debit this bill, will receive a  5% discount; so the reduction of this tax will be around to a 16%”, explained Andrés Valera.

Also, the Government Team considered convenient to establish a discount of 80% in the fee on the Plusvalías for transmissions mortis-causa for second and successive homes, maintaining also the  95% of discount for this kind of tax when it refers to the main residence, as it was already in force since the Municipal Plenum approved it in October last year. Despite of the reduction of taxes, “will continue to face to the returns of grants badly managed by the previous government team and to the payment of the debts”.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has stated that  “although we have reduced the taxes we will fulfill with the adjustment plan in the Town Hall and we will continue reducing the debt of the municipal coffers as we have done”. The first councillor has reminded that “we cope with the adjustment plans that have been presented in this legislature from the Central Government and we undertake the payment of historical debts and bad managements that other municipal governments were unable to handle although they lived in a bonanza time that we, on the contrary, can´t enjoy”.
