‘TIERRA SURCADA, MAR REVIVIDO' SHOWS LANDSCAPES AND DETAILS OF MAZARRÓN IN CASAS CONSISTORIALES

The exhibition of the artist of Cartagena Javier Lorente can be seen until Saturday, 5th July

Until Saturday 5thJuly you can enjoy in Casas Consistoriales the exhibition 'Tierra Surcada, Mar revivido' of the artist of Cartagena Javier Lorente. The exhibition, consists of twenty paintings (including the paint with which Lorente won the National Contest of Painting Outdoors 'Landscapes of Mazarrón - Memorial Domingo Valdivieso), was inaugurated yesterday by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, and the author himself during a ceremony also attended by the Councilor for Culture, Maria Celeste Soria, and friends of the artist.


Javier Lorente explained that "the paintings of this exhibition show panoramic images of Mazarrón, as well as some details of the sea and the orography of the town". The artist said that "it is a pleasure to come back to Mazarrón as I am coming to take pictures and the more this land is known the more it is loved" and praised "the love for culture that the Town Hall shows and how resolvent the mayor is to carry out cultural initiatives, something that other town halls should learn".


Lorente encouraged the council to "follow this line of commitment for Culture because, definitively, Art, Music, Painting ... are essential for humans". The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2 pm and on Thursday and Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Just inform that the exhibition space of Casas Consistoriales will be closed on the last Saturday of each month, the days 22nd May and 27th  June and bank holidays (Sundays, Monday 9th June 'Day of the Region of Murcia' and 13th June San Antonio, patron of Mazarrón and local holiday).


The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, congratulated the artist for this exhibition and thanked for his support to the outdoors event of painting of Mazarrón, from whom Lorente was president of the jury last year. Campillo highlighted that "Javier has entered strongly in Mazarrón. First with an exhibition in summer of his art school and which was the result so that the memorial ‘Domingo Valdivieso’ was recovered that, precisely was the exhibition that we have just concluded successfully. Therefore, we owed him this show, "concluded the mayor.
