The council of Tourism of the Town Hall of Mazarrón, through the Municipal Tourist Office, has made the first balance of the tourist occupancy  during the first  half of the summer that has given positives aspects to the current situation of crisis that we suffer. In this sense, the hotel occupancy during the first fortnight of August is about 90% and, in some cases, reaches 100% of places occupancy.

Also, it should be noted that the occupancy in July was “fairly good” during the weekends, as said the managers, thanks to the activities that the Town Hall scheduled this month as were the gastronomy course of  Universidad del Mar – Campus Mare Nostrum, the Night Race “Por la Vida” or the tale contest  “Villa de Mazarrón – Antonio Segado del Olmo”. That has allowed “save” July, in which the occupancy during the weekdays was 60%.

Other positive aspect of this summer is that the campsites have almost occupied their plots. In part because the prices are more affordable and is many people that, for first time, has chosen to practice this kind of tourism. The managers trust in ending the month with the same  occupancy that have in this moment, although the bookings from 15th August are lower than in previous years.

From the Tourist Office has been also highlighted that , although yet has not been calculted the data of the  number of users of the municipal service of tourist information, has been an increase of foreign among which predominate the French nationality attracted, safely, for the price drop in some  accommodations or the freeezing of these prices during the last three years.

The Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, has explained that  “to extend as possible the summer season we  will schedule some activities for September with occasion of the celebration of the 440 Anniversary of the concession of  Privilege of Villa. Between them highlight  a gastronomic event , a football championship between veterans and the  sailing regatta cruiser class Villa de Mazarrón for the end of month, that  ensure the presence of tourists in the town  despite of the economic time delicate that we live”.
