THE JOURNALIST JUAN ALFONSO CERVANTES ESPARZA WILL BE THE CRIER OF THE EASTER OF MAZARRÓN
Salvador Madrid Vivancos gets the first prize in the Lenten Short Story Contest
Last Friday the Parish Center of Mazarrón received the presentation of the Easter magazine of Mazarrón that this year runs by San Juan brotherhood. The event was supported by Mazarrón Mayor, Ginés Campillo, and had the attendance of the Cabildo president of Easter Brotherhoods of Mazarrón, Cecilia Morales, the president of San Juan brotherhood, Andrés Navarro, and the parish priest of San Antonio and San Andrés, Julio Romero. As explained Andres Navarro “every year the Easter magazine is made by a brotherhood, and it gets better every year thanks to the illusion that we put from the Cabildo and the brotherhoods”. On it are collected photographs of the processions and events of the last year, and as well related texts with Mazarrón Easter.
During the event was revealed that the crier of Mazarrón Easter of this year will be the mazarronero journalist Juan Alfonso Cervantes Esparza, who nowadays is boss of the sports area of the regional television 7 Murcia Region. Cervantes Esparza has belonged, like his family, to San Juan Brotherhood which is that this year has chosen to the crier. The journalist, who wil give his proclamation on 31 March in La Purísima Sanctuary , said that “when I received the notice I went crazy with joy. Being crier makes me very happy because is in some way culminate mi relationship with my town. It is the greatest satisfaction that could give me my countrymen”.
Also was known the winners of the Lenten Short Story Contest. The first prize of this literary contest, with 150 euros, was for Salvador Madrid Vivancos for the story “The love of Christ doesn´t know the oblivion"; while the second prize, with 120 euros, was for Tomás Ureña Gallego for the story “Easter: the cross of Ezequiel”. Finally the third prize, which includes an amount of 100 euros, was for the story “On the Threshold ” of Luis Paredes López. The three prizes are sponsored by the companies “Zausacán”, “Aragón y Méndez” and “La Voz de Mazarrón” respectively.
Mazarrón Mayor, Ginés Campillo, congratulated to the Cabildo and to the brotherhoods “for the work that they make year after year. I know that the work is dificult and it is hard to get ahead in the Easter. I know that the sacrifice is very big, but the satisfaction also it is”. The Mayor highlighted also the “quality of the Easter Magazine” and congratulated to the crier “because sure he will brighten on 31 March after the words that he has dedicated here and that demostrate the feeling that he has to Mazarrón and its Easter”. Finally the parish priest, Julio Romero, asked to the crier “that put in the proclamation his heart” and invited to all the citizens to participate in the events and in the processions.
